Jutte - Sword Defensive Baton, Volume 1
This book chronicles the essential but sometime overlooked piece of samurai defensive weaponry, the Jute (Samurai Baton). Though it is thought of as an effective defensive item against a sword, it severed well as an offensive weapon also. It was also a standard piece of equipment worn by Edo Period policemen.
These were made with the same high regard to craftsmanship as were swords, with the maker's signature marks were frequently inscribed in the handle area.
This book is almost entirely full color plate images printed on nicely lacquered paper. Its a really beautiful production, and would make an excellent addition to any collection.
An essential volume if you're interested in Japanese weaponry, history, or martial arts.
