Dear Buyer,
Thank you for your interest in my listing, This is a rare and huge ship!
Shinano (??), was an aircraft carrier built by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during World War II, the largest of its kind at that time. Laid down in May 1940 as the third of the Yamato-class battleships, Shinano's partially complete hull was ordered to be converted to a carrier following Japan's disastrous loss of four fleet carriers at the Battle of Midway in mid-1942. Her conversion was still not finished in November 1944 when she was ordered to sail from the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal to Kure Naval Base to complete fitting out and transfer a load of 50 Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka rocket-propelled kamikaze flying bombs. Hastily dispatched, she had an inexperienced crew and serious design and construction flaws, lacked adequate pumps and fire-control systems, and did not carry a single aircraft. She was sunk en route, 10 days after commissioning, on 29 November 1944, by four torpedoes from the U.S. Navy submarine Archerfish. Over a thousand sailors and civilians were rescued and 1,435 were lost, including her captain. She remains the largest warship ever sunk by a submarine.
A large kit over 1 meter (~3 feet) long. Weighs over 3+ Kg before packaging and over 4.5 Kg after.
Appears that the Ship's stand and planes are missing but many parts have already been taken off from their sprues for partial assembly of the kit.....mainly the island central superstructure, deck, hull, and propellers/ shafts/ sheaths (which are painted), so it's hard to say if there are any other smaller parts missing. I think that some screws/ nuts or copper battery couplings might be missing but if they are, these can be obtained from hobby shops or online.
Has decals but uncertain if they can still be used. Comes with Instructions which are in Japanese. Very suitable for RC conversion.
What you see in the photos are the complete set. Box is in fair condition (please see photos)
If you want, I do have 1/350 sized Nichimo aircraft carrier Japanese warplanes sold separately.
