Household Arts copyrighted these popular paper patterns in 1946 and feature the ever lovely crocheted pineapple design. One is a crocheted cover for a chair back and arms or for a buffet; the other is for the top of a tv. (The tv's were like square boxes on legs.) I remember seeing these in most homes in the midwest, and it is a glimpse of Americana and home decor in the forties and even later. These were promoted through newspapers under the fictitious name of Alice Brooks. Pattern 7272 is in excellent condition, and pattern 891 is in very good condition with pencil marking off each round completed. Both show a clear picture of the finished design and very detailed directions. Today's designer could adapt these designs for pillows, shawls, and other clothing and home accessories.
