Gymnocalycium saglionis trio, also commonly known as the ‘Giant chin cactus’, can reach up to the height of 12-36 inches. It is a winter-dormant solitary barrel cactus with long spreading, having a Globular shape, and sometimes recurved spines. They have a rich brown color that contrasts nicely with the grey-green body. The Giant chin cactus has its origin in Argentina and belongs to the Cactaceae family.

This cactus blooms in mid-spring and produces pretty Pale pink flowers.

Watering and Feeding

Watering Gymnocalycium saglionis can be done frequently during the summer months while the plants are growing well, but always allow the compost to nearly dry out before rewarming. Watering during the winter months is unwise and certainly unnecessary. Spring and autumn are the most difficult seasons.

Hardiness

The Giant chin cactus is a cold-hardy plant, with a frost tolerance of -15° C (5° F) or even less. It belongs to the hardiness zone of 9b to 11b.

Light

This cactus must be protected from the sun rays in summers or during periods of extreme heat. It does well in full sun to partial shade sun exposure.

Propagation 

Gymnocalycium saglionis trio can be propagated through seed collection or offset production. The seeds can be planted in early spring. Time and patience are required when harvesting and sowing seeds for propagation.
