Before you use toxic floral foam again – PLEASE read below!

Did you know floral foam is made with three toxic substances?

(3) TOXINS:

“In reality, it's [floral foam] made from synthetic, non-recyclable plastic and is created using a combination of carbon black, formaldehyde and phenolic foam, which are all toxic. Though it crumbles, floral foam doesn't fully dissolve in water or degrade in landfill or soil.” >goodhousekeeping.com › household-advice April 9, 2021

Carbon black: “Inhaling carbon black particles can irritate the lungs and cause coughing. Carbon black can also irritate the eyes, nose and throat. ... Animal studies suggest long-term exposure to very high doses of pure carbon black may increase a person's risk of cancer.” >dhs.wisconsin.gov › chemical › carblack

Formaldehyde: “Formaldehyde can cause irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat. High levels of exposure may cause some types of cancers.” >epa.gov › formaldehyde › facts-about-formaldehyde

Phenol: “Phenol is highly irritating to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes in humans after acute (short-term) inhalation or dermal exposures. Phenol is considered to be quite toxic to humans via oral exposure.” >epa.gov

Arrange your florals with an added look of nature: My hand crafted floral straw filler is hypoallergenic; it looks like pine straw, feels like pine straw, but it’s not pine straw. Made from natural paperboard and unlike floral foam, my floral straw filler can be re-fluffed and re-shaped over and over to quickly and easily re-style your floral arrangements. Once holes are poked into floral foam, the holes are there and cannot be un-done. And, have you ever seen what floral foam looks like over time? Discolored and breaking down, it’s something you don’t even want to touch!

When using the straw filler for arranging your florals, you don’t need to ‘cover up’ any foam block with moss or other material to hide the base. It has a natural straw look that adds complimentary beauty to your arrangements, blending in with the natural appearance of your florals. And, it’s SUPER FAST and SUPER EASY to use!

Available by 1 Quart volume: 1 quart fills approx. 32 ounces (1 quart) cavity of glass quart jar

TIPS:

Small and light weight floral arrangements: Use filler by original volume (1 pint for 16 ounces, 1 quart for 32 ounces)

Heavy flowers: If your flowers are top heavy, you need to increase the straw to support the weight - double or more the straw depending on weight of florals

Tall flower arrangements: If you are creating an arrangement where the flowers extend a considerable distance above the rim of your vase/container, you need extra straw to support the length. Consider increasing the straw by 50% (1-1/2 the container volume) or more depending on the height and weight of your flowers
