Opanci are rustic
light, leather footwear, which is tightened around the legs with straps
or straps. On the Balkan Peninsula, it is very widespread in various
shapes, fashion details and colors. Among Serbs, opanak is a traditional
Serbian footwear and its national symbol. Opanci are also a folk
costume in Macedonia, Bosnia, Croatia, Herzegovina and Montenegro.
Workmanship and shape
The
shape of the shoes is different in different parts of Serbia. The most
common forms are with or without a "beak". The beak is called the top of
the front part, which is easily bent upwards, from where the weaving of
the rigging begins. Shoes with a "beak" are also called "spikes". They
are usually made of calfskin, but sandals made of pigskin are called
"sewing machines".
