The 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines (3/5 nicknamed Dark Horse) is an infantry battalion in the United States Marine Corps.

The 3rd Battalion falls under the command of the 5th Marine Regiment which falls under the command of the 1st Marine Division.

The Battle of Belleau Wood (June 1-26, 1918) became a key component in the lore of the United STates Marine Corps.

From April 1966 to March 1971, the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines fought in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. (April 21- May 16, 1967)
