This very old thermometer was one purchased by Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Director, and given to members of the community as an advertising piece. It works. The back states it was calibrated by Springfield Instrument Company, New York City USA. There is a small keyhole in the back where it can be hung on the wall, but I always have used the little removable stand. The stand does not fall out, but needs to be squeezed together to be removed. There is an American Eagle perched at the top. It is a silver color with black oxidation. Whether it was black and the black has worn off, or if it was silverish and the silver has worn off in spots, I cannot say. From the top of the eagle to the bottom of the piece is 5 inches. It is about 3 1/2 inches across. I believe the material is a plastic. It is in very good condition except for a semi-circle discoloration at the bottom about an inch, but is only a line, and not a complete discolored semi circle. It can be seen in the main picture. The Geigle Funeral Home was in Coatesville Pennsylvania, I believe, about 50 miles west of PhiladelphiaIt has been in a smoke free environment. It is accurate.
