DESCRIPTION:  This is a 1960s 3-strand long necklace.  Each strand is made of a different color and size of red faceted beads from a cherry red to a deep, dark red.  The bead strands are attached to lengths of gold plated chain.  The clasp is a lobster claw, and there is an 3.5" extender to add length if desired.

These beads are from a time when "cherry amber" was all the rage.  I am certain that these are plastic and that they were sold as such when they were new.  However, many similar strands of plastic beads have been sold as "real amber" over the years.  Red amber is relatively rare and cannot be positively identified without using gemological equipment.

SIZE:  The length of this necklace is approximately 28" plus a 3 1/2" extender.  The beads vary in diameter from about 7mm to about 10mm.

CONDITION:  There are no cracks, chips, or other damage visible at normal viewing distance.  I have not gone over this necklace with a magnifying glass, and there could be some small chips on the facets if viewed under magnification.

BACKGROUND:  I purchased this piece from a neighbor who was moving into assisted living.  I'm listing other pieces of jewelry I bought from her this week.  24470
