ANTIQUE FRENCH FIVES LILLE MAJOLICA JOAN OF ARC PLATTER C 1880-1900:

The Fives Lille manufacture was in the north of France, near Belgium.

The large scalloped rim has shields alternating with panels of flowers.

 The shields reads HONNEUR PATRIE and the ribbon across the bottom of the plate EN AVANT

The middle of the plate shows Joan of Arc in full armor holding a flag and riding on horseback on a cream background. The flag in her hand reads JESUS MARIA and a royal lily.

Unsigned like often but the pattern is typical and well known from Fives Lille.

Diameter: 12 inches across

VERY GOOD CONDITION WITHOUT CHIPS ETC

 Colors and glaze are intense and gorgeous.
