inva5x. Up for sale is a wonderful book from the Paradise Regained set by John Milton, being volume 2 only, but a great stand alone of his Poems Upon Several Occasions in English, A new edition, with notes of various authors by Thomas Newton, late Lord Bishop of Bristol. Printed for W. Strahan (among others) London 1785. 390 pages, indexed, with the last 100 or so pages being in Latin entitled Joannis Miltoni Londinensis Poemata Quorum pleraque intra Annum Aetatis Vigefimum confcrifit. It has been rebound in contemporary cloth over board covers.
Very good condition, professionally rebound. Text crisp overall, for age. Some foxing, some creased corners. Inscribed on title page, some pencil on front end leave. We did not check page by page to determine if any pages were lost in the rebinding process or prior, but it does not appears so. Text has held up well for 200+ years of age. Book measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 1 1/4". Binding in such good condition, it still crackles when opened.
