This is an unusual 1980s interpretation of Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. I have not been able to find anything similar on the internet and can't tell for sure what it is made of. It is quite heavy and dense like greenware. When you tap on it, it sounds like ceramic, but the absence of damage and the weight make me think it is more likely to be resin. Although it looks hand carved, it probably was made in a mold. The style looks like bas relief. There is no company or artist mark on it that I can find.

The gold area is textured like foil rather than being smooth like a painted surface. The base color is a gray-beige. This is a beautiful and thought-provoking piece.

SIZE: This piece is 7" wide by 11" tall by 1" deep. The mound and twigs on the bottom left side actually extend forward from the frame, so the depth in that area is closer to 1.5".

SHIPPING: There is no shipping charge for standard shipping to US addresses. The package will weigh 3 pounds.

BACKGROUND: Earlier this year I bought a large group of religious figurines, plaques, crosses, and jewelry from two different estates. Most were very carefully chosen gifts and not things you see frequently. Virtually all are in excellent condition because they were displayed in closed cabinets devoted just to them. None of them had the original boxes with them.

CONDITION: This item is in excellent condition with no damage noted.
