HFBR-0535 Evaluation Board
The purpose of the HFBR-0535
1.25 GBd evaluation board is to provide the designer with a convenient means to test the 1-row-by-9-pins (1x9) multi-mode HFBR-53D5 and single-mode
HFCT-53D5 fiber-optic transceivers. This evaluation board will save engineering time, effort and
expense for measuring the fiberoptic transceivers performance. These new fiber-optic transceivers
contain either a 850 nm Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting
Laser (VCSEL) or a Fabry-Perot (F-P) Laser light source that operates at 1.25 GBd for use in Gigabit/second Ethernet applications. The evaluation board allows
serial, high-speed 1.25 Gb/s Ethernet electrical data signals to interface to this VCSEL or F-P Laser
transceiver and then to be optically transmitted or received on multi-mode or single-mode fiber-
optic cables respectively. The HFBR-53D5 VCSEL transceiver or the F-P Laser transceiver can be
looped-back by multi-mode or single-mode fiber-optic cables respectively to the receiver section which, in turn, provides the returning electrical Gigabit/sec
Ethernet signal. If two evaluation boards are used, then a full-duplex Gigabit/sec Ethernet fiber-optic link can be evaluated.
This HFBR-0535 evaluation board consists of the necessary components to allow various logic circuits to connect to this board.
