...so, in no particular order...
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
'With Revolver, the Beatles made the Great Leap Forward, reaching a previously unheard-of level of sophistication and fearless experimentation. Sgt. Pepper's in many ways, refines that breakthrough, as the Beatles consciously synthesized such disparate influences as psychedelia, art-song, classical music, rock & roll, and music hall, often in the course of one song. It's possible to argue that there are better Beatles albums, yet no album is as historically important as this. After Sgt. Pepper's, there were no rules to follow - rock and pop bands could try anything, for better or worse...and only a few achieved the sweeping, all-encompassing embrace of music such as the Beatles did here..'

A Hard Days Night
'This album was written and recorded at a time when the Beatles were constantly touring, giving regular BBC concerts, appearing on television and releasing non-LP singles and EPs, as well as filming their first motion picture. In that context, the achievement of A Hard Days Night is all the more astounding. Not only was the record the de facto soundtrack for their movie, not only was it filled with nothing but Lennon-McCartney originals, but it found the Beatles truly coming into their own as a band by performing a uniformly excellent set of songs. All of the disparate influences on their first two albums had coalesced into a bright, joyous, original sound filled with ringing guitars and irresistible melodies. They had certainly found their musical voice before, but this is where it became mythical. In just a few years, they made more adventurous and accomplished albums, but this is the sound of Beatlemania in all of its giddy glory...'

...and finally...
1
'Apparently, and somewhat unbelievably, there was a gap in the Beatles' catalog, after all - all the big hits weren't on one tidy, single-disc compilation. It's not the kind of gap you'd necessarily notice but, for marketing men, it was a gap all the same, a gap filled by the release of 1 late in 2000, coinciding with the publication of their official autobiography, the puzzlingly titled Anthology. The idea behind this compilation is to have all the number one singles they had, either in the U.K. or U.S., on one disc, and that's pretty much what this generous 27-track collection is. There's still no question that this is all great music, and there is a bit of an adrenalin rush hearing all these dazzling songs follow one after another...'
Please note, two tracks skip - Get Back and The Ballad of John and Yoko, due to surface marks on the disc, hence its inclusion as a 'freebie'
Also, you may get lucky...on a Sony CD player both skipped, on my computer disc player only Get Back skipped, so I've given the worst scenario as two skipping.
Was 27 tracks, now 25 and now approx. 73 minutes.
