Antrim Short was born on July 11, 1900 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as Mark Antrim Short. He was a juvenile lead in silent films with the Biograph Company from 1912. Later, he was known for Tom Sawyer (1917), The Flirt (1916), and Huck and Tom(1918). He was married to Frances Morris; the brother of actresses Gertrude Short and Florence Short; the son of actor Lew Short and actress Estelle Short; and a cousin of actress Blanche Sweet. Short was a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild. After being reduced to playing bit parts in talkies, he became a casting director for Goldwyn, Republic, and Universal and established his own talent agency in 1947. He died on November 24, 1972 in Los Angeles, California.
