Vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the classic 1920's silent film adventure drama/romance, THE EAGLE, released in 1925 by United Artists and directed by Clarence Brown. Based upon the 1832 novel, Dubrowski, by Alexander Pushkin, a wanted Russian lieutenant (Rudolph Valentino) becomes a masked vigilante seeking vengeance upon the man (James A. Marcus) who stole his family's land, only to fall for his charming daughter (Vilma Banky). The cast includes Louise Dresser, Albert Conti, George Nichols, and Carrie Clark Ward.
This poster was printed for the film's 1930's US theatrical re-release by Astor Pictures Corp., which featured a synchronized music and effects track. The design features a beautiful close shot of Rudolph Valentino in costume as the the handsome Russian Lt. Vladimir Dubrovsky. Just like the original 1925 release poster, this one-sheet is also a stone lithograph and was also printed by Morgan Litho Corp. of Cleveland, OH, so it features very fine detail and beautiful, rich colors. This particular example is especially desirable, as it was never folded and is rolled. It is in fine+ condition with random signs of wear along the right border; light creasing on the top right and bottom left corners; and a light 7 in. diagonal crease on the bottom right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws and the stone litho colors are fresh and vibrant with no signs of fading.
