Cap Badge worn by the Austria-Hungary (Austro-Hungarian), Mountain Regiments during WW1.
This badge is perfect for:
Austria-Hungary, often referred to as the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the Dual Monarchy, was a constitutional monarchy and great power in Central Europe between 1867 and 1918. It was formed with the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, and was dissolved following its defeat in the First World War. The k.k. Landesschützen - were three regiments of Austro-Hungarian mountain infantry during the kaiserliche und königliche Monarchie. As a rule, only Tyrolean and Vorarlbergen men were enlisted in the Landesschützen.
The badge is 48mm tall and 28mm wide. It is made from very fine grade gold and silver coloured bullion on a green cloth background. It is suspected these were made for the collars of mountain troops insignia and also used on the mountain cap. Our version is pretty much an exact copy and taken from an original! The last few picture shows our aged version worn on a mountain cap - The cap is not for sale. This badge is in aged condition.
