Description
Offered here is this amazing salvaged 1920's Davies & McDonald 5" Decorative Tile. I am unsure of its exact age, however, D & M Company was only in production from 1928 through 1939. This tile is made of terracotta, and has a painted design known as Moorish Decoration. The tile is a 5" tile and is .5" thick, but due to some small breakage on one side from the salvage process, the tile actually measures 5" by 4.5". It is an amazing salvaged piece from The Frederick Estate in Altadena California. This tile is in good condition, however, it does have a large amount of the mortar still attached to the back. There are a few very small areas around the outer perimeter of the tile where the glaze has been chipped during the salvage process. The glaze on the front of the tile is a bit worn in a few places, but the colors are still quite vibrant, and, for a tile that is almost 100 years old, it is incredible. Each of these tiles were hand painted, and therefore the design has very slight variances. It is a gorgeous salvaged tile from D & M Company.
