Vintage Metal Dog Setter 6 x 6

This is such an interesting item.  I think that it might have been a top to a fence or a weather vane.  I do not know what kind of metal this is...but I would guess that it is cast aluminium since there is no rust.  The dog is in blues with crazing and some small paint voids.  It is definately in vintage condition.  This dog is some kind of setter... 

I included a photo of the base....There is a hole where you can attach it to something.  It is nice and heavy and sturdy. 

This dog is preloved...but it looks almost perfect to me.
