Mildred W Doll (20th Century; American):
Mildred Doll was an American artist, painter and art instructor active in the middle of the 20th century. She was the wife of the famous surgeon of the the time, Joseph Doll of the Notre Dame Hospital in Providence Rhode Island. The couple settled in nearby Lincoln, RI where the local landscape inspired Mildred's artistic eye. Her favorite subject choice from then on was landscapes, though she also painted portraits and still life pieces. She preferred oil on canvas or board though she did experiment with watercolors. Her style was in part, modeled after American Western artists of the time, such as Maynard Dixon and Edgar Payne.
