For sale is a lovely copper-coated bronze or brass medal in its original presentation case. This prize medal was awarded by the Woman's Own magazine for homemade handicrafts, who had regular competitions for handicrafts and cookery in the home. The case has a small hook to hold and display the medal when its case is stood on end. The Woman's own magazine has been continually published since 1932.

The obverse side shows an image of a woman proudly displaying a piece of fabric and the inscription WOMAN'S OWN HANDICRAFTS MEDAL. The reverse side is decorated with a laurel wreath and is uninscribed.

I understand these medals were normally awarded without any inscription and it was up to the recipient to have them personally inscribed. There was another similar styled medal issued by the Women's Own magazine for cookery competitions but having a different obverse image.
