Original US Signal Corps/ 9/8/44 The Army Ration Acceptability Test - 4 This is an original photo from an estate sale collection of WWII photos. On the back it says: "Camp Carson, COLO. - What is perhaps the most unusual and significant ration experiment in military history has just been concluded by the U. S. Army at their camp, Topiside...For eight weeks, men of science and those wise in the ways of war teamed up with 900 GI 'guinea pigs' in an undertaking termed the Ration Acceptability Test. Officially encouraged to let down their close cropped hair and gripe to their hearts content, the GIs let the Army know that the new C rations topped the preference list...A general view of soldiers going through the Harvard Step Test...9/8/44." |
