pharmachologic effect

The drug has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, and also normalizes the tone of smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract: it helps to eliminate spasm without affecting normal peristalsis, and with a reduced tone and motility it has a tonic, prokinetic effect. In an experiment in vitro, it inhibits the growth of 6 subspecies of Helicobacter pylori. Iberogast reduces the intensity of ulceration of the gastric mucosa, the secretion of hydrochloric acid, reduces the concentration of leukotrienes, enhances the production of mucins, increases the concentration of mucoprotective prostaglandin E2 in the gastric mucosa.
Indications

- for the treatment of functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (including irritable bowel syndrome), manifested by severity in the epigastric region, stomach or intestinal cramps, belching, nausea, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea or their alternation;
- as part of the complex therapy of gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer.
Method of administration and dosage

The drug is taken orally, 20 drops 3 times / day, before or during meals, with a little water.
The duration of therapy is 4 weeks.
An increase in the duration and repeated courses of treatment is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.
Side effects

From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
Allergic reactions: skin manifestations, shortness of breath.
If adverse reactions occur, it is necessary to discontinue the drug and consult a doctor.
Contraindications

    - calculous cholecystitis;
    - children and adolescents up to 18 years of age (due to insufficient clinical data);
    - hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

    The drug should be prescribed with caution for liver diseases, alcoholism, traumatic brain injury, brain diseases - due to the ethanol content in the drug.

Overdose

To date, no cases of drug overdose have been reported.

If the severity of the disease does not decrease within 14 days of using the drug, or there is an aggravation of symptoms, or new complaints arise, the patient should consult a doctor.
The content of ethanol in the composition of the preparation ranges from 29.5 to 32.6% (by volume). When taking 1 single dose (20 drops), the patient receives up to 0.24 g of absolute ethyl alcohol. The maximum daily dose of the drug (60 drops) contains up to 0.72 g of absolute ethyl alcohol, which is lower than the ethanol content in 200 ml of apple juice or 75 ml of kefir.
Shake the contents of the bottle before use.
During storage, slight turbidity or slight precipitation is possible, which does not affect the therapeutic efficacy of the drug.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms
When using the drug, care should be taken when performing potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (including driving, working with moving mechanisms, the work of a dispatcher and an operator).
Interaction with other drugs

Interaction with other drugs is currently unknown.
Consideration should be given to the possibility of interaction with drugs, the metabolism of which is carried out with the participation of the cytochrome P450 system (licorice roots, milk thistle fruits, chamomile flowers can have an inhibitory effect on a number of cytochrome P450 isoenzymes). At the same time, these effects are dose-dependent and are described when using individual components in concentrations that are many times higher than the recommended doses of Iberogast.
Storage conditions

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from light at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Shelf life is 2 years.
