As the Watergate break-in case began unfolding, Garry B. Trudeau introduced the topic into his daily newspaper comic strip DOONESBURY in 1973. This led several newspapers to move the strip from the comic strip pages to the editorial pages, and some newspapers even stopped publishing some of the strips entirely. In 1975, Garry B. Trudeau received a Pulitzer Prize for his work on DOONESBURY -- the first cartoonist to ever win this prestigious award.
