One of the greatest newspaper action adventure newspaper strips of all times was STEVE CANYON, as created by MILTON CANIFF (who formerly had written and created TERRY AND THE PIRATES). Steve Canyon is a World War II veteran with the Army Air Force Air Transport Command; and, now in civilian life, operates his own worldwide air transport company, Horizons Unlimited. Steve's adventures take him around the world, leading him into two-fisted, hard boiled adventures with an intriguing host of friends and enemies.
Steve's first adventures (from January 13 to May 15, 1947) take him and his Horizons Unlimited crew to Latin America, to investigate the looting of properties owned by multi-millionaire corporate wizard, COPPER CALHOON. Also introduced in this first episode is FEETA-FEETA, Steve's office manager; and the crew of Horizons Unlimited, "BRECK" BRECKINRIDGE NAZAIRE; "OILY" REILLY; WILLIAM "BEADEYE" RUGGER; "TWO-WAY" TOUHEY; and "MUDDER" MCGEE. Also featured in this first volume are SENOR PINO PLUMA, BULLET-HOLE-PETE-IN-PERSON, DELTA and BIG RED.
