What an outstanding volume of American history, from the Colonial period and Native American lore of the pre-Revolutionary War era, right up through the 1920s and 1930s, with a little bit beyond that.  I confess that I'm not a big fan of READER'S DIGEST; but I wholly recommend this particular publication as a fantastic starting point for any young person who needs a colorful overview of American history in fact and fiction -- reading only a few pages from this book should whet their appetite to tackle a much larger volume devoted to the fuller story about which they have just read.  And it's the type of book that one can pick up at any time, and start to read from any page -- good stuff!
