Extremely rare edition of 16th century work written by Georg Stengel, German Jesuit, philosopher and theologian, member of The Society of Jesus. Stengel believed that all the punishments of God point to the need for an implacable persecution of witches on the Franconian model. Stengel wrote 70 Latin and German works, including poems, memoirs and polemical writings. Among the polemical literature include his treatises against his in 1621 converted to Lutheran religious Brothers Jacob Reihing. Extremely rare edition of Labyrinthi Ab Aegyptiis Positi. Binding: Original vellum binding with blindstamped title and sticker on the spine cover. Covers gilted, gilt slightly faded due to ageing. Minor wax stains and scratches, signs of wear along the edges, previous owner’s inscription on the endpaper.
Condition: Ink inscription on the flyleaf, gilted textblock edges, few minor spots in the text, last leaf slightly damaged, clean copy otherwise.
