Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1920's silent Universal horror film, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, released in 1923 by Universal Pictures and directed by Wallace Worsley. Based upon the famous novel by Victor Hugo, in 15th-century Paris, the brother of the archdeacon plots with the gypsy king to foment a peasant revolt. Meanwhile, a freakish hunchback falls in love with the gypsy queen. The cast includes Lon Chaney, Patsy Ruth Miller, Norman Kerry, Kate Lester, Winifred Bryson, Nigel De Brulier, Brandon Hurst, Ernest Torrence, Tully Marshall, and Raymond Hatton.

The image depicts an interior publicity shot of actor Ernest Torrence as "Clopin," beautifully photographed against a jet-black background with strong side-lighting. As indicated near the lower left, this photograph was taken by Jack Freulich, a highly renowned Hollywood photographer working at Universal during this period. It is in fine+ condition with one pinhole in the center of the top border and one in the center of the bottom background area; light wear in the top border; and a small chip on the bottom left corner. There are no tears, stains, creases, writing, or other flaws.
