Vintage Carved Wood Hummingbird Brooch Pin Hand Painted Wire Legs Bird California Anna on Branch
Lifelike Miniature Avian Figural Nature
Handcarved Handpainted Takahashi Style Reproduction
Left Facing Male
Lacquered Deep Shine
Shiny Lacquer Finish
This is a beautiful little highly detailed Hummingbird brooch or pin. It is done in the Takahashi style and I am guessing it is a reproduction as it is unsigned and it has screws attaching the clasp, not pins, but I am not an expert on this subject. It is hand painted and the main colors are red and green enamel. It has twisted copper wire legs that are attached to a small piece of wood for a branch. It has a very long black beak and a bright red head with yellow and black eyes. The body consists of green feathers with black dot highlights, white fan feathers and a white and yellow belly stomach area. It measures approximately 2 ½ long by 1 inch tall. The back is a lightweight natural wood with a nice grain pattern. I believe this is an Anna Hummingbird, which is found mostly in the Western United States in California.
This gorgeous brooch is in excellent vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. The silver tone clasp on the back works just fine and appears to be screw mounted. The colors are all bright and colorful with no loss of paint or finish. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.
This would be perfect for anyone who loves Hummingbirds or hand carved figural jewelry. The bird is a little wearable piece of artwork.
