Mountain Charley or the Adventures of Mrs. E.J. Guerin, Autobiographical account from a mid-nineteenth century woman of the Wild West. Married at 12, had two children by age 15 or 16, then widowed after the birth of her 2nd child and spends a dozen or so years searching for his murderer. She masqueraded as a man and worked as a riverboatman, railroad brakeman, miner, rancher, Indian trader, bartender, and businessman. She also served in the Civil War. |
