Twenty-four verses for prayer for children are each illustrated in lovely color and in charcoal on yellow by Marguerite De Angeli.
Upper corner tips lightly bumped, former owner's vintage inscription "Happy Easter Honey, Mother" to the illustrated page prior to the text, else near fine in blue waxed linen over color illustrated boards; in a very good dust jacket with several short edge tears, a chip from the lower edge of the front panel, tiny nicks to the upper and lower edges of the inner flaps; original 50 cent price "5050" and publisher's code "40-80" still intact to the front inner flap.
De Angeli, twice winner of the Caldecott Honor Book Award for her endearing children's book illustration, was also a Newbery Award winner.
The prolific illustrator not only made a lasting impression with her incredibly charming children's action scenes, but also depicted lower class, working class, blue collar, and culturally diverse children in an endearing, loving, equal and accepting manner.
Charmingly illustrated on every page by the D'Angeli.
A classic picture book in dust jacket.
