SPIRALS

by Aaron Marc Stein

New York: Covici, Friede Publishers, 1930.

First edition.

Remnant of a green (review?) slip to the front endpaper at the inner hinge, small patch of old tape stain and mild abrasion to the lower front endpaper, else a near fine, tight copy in tan cloth with titles and rules in dark red; lacking the dust jacket.

The author's first few novels were serious attempts at "great literature." After graduating from Princeton in 1927, SPIRALS, his first novel was published in 1930.  It was a  modernist, stream-of-consciousness novel, set at Princeton, and was declared "obscene" by one reviewer in the "Princeton Alumni Weekly."

A rather RARE book by the author who would later make his mark in detective fiction.
