1893 reprint of the 1892 edition.
(originally published in 1882)
Enhanced with nine beautiful black-and-white plate illustrations depicting charming detailed scenes by Edmund H. Garrett.
Garret was a prolific illustrator, exhibited painter, and book-plate maker who remains famous for his King Arthur illustrations, and for his watercolor paintings of the English countryside.
A collection of nine engaging, rather lengthy, children's stories by the author, mostly known by the pen name of Ouida, who, in addition to children's books, wrote over forty novels.
These adventuresome tales are timeless, make for fascinating reading, and have been continually sought-after.
This edition in beautiful beige linen with gilt titles and enchanting cover border embossed illustrations, is the preferred edition.
Faint soiling to covers, minor split to edges of upper corners, former owner's name dated 1896 to the first blank page, patterned endpapers slightly age-toned with several tears to the rear free endpaper, else very good in remarkably bright beige linen with brown embossed illustrations and gilt embossed titles to the front cover, and to the spine; no dust jacket.
