DOWN THE RIVER

by Roscoe W. Brink

New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1922.

First edition.

Faint foxing to the page edges, small bleed stain to the lower rear endpapers and a few pages, spine gilt lettering lacking, else a very good copy in dark green cloth with gilt-stamped cover titles and decoration; in a very good, illustrated dust jacket missing a triangular piece from the lower rear panel and flap. The jacket also shows chipping to the heel, a few tiny tears, and soiling to the rear panel.

A free verse novel "that reveals completely the soul of an American woman of the people."

"It is a moving and powerfully motivated novel."--Louis Untermeyer.
