THE PRINCESS AND THE SWINEHERD:
A Comedy For Young And Old In Three Acts By Gwendolen Seiler Lyrics and incidental music and dances by Conrad Seiler Illustrated by Winifred E. Lefferts (Arms) New York: The Macmillan Company, 1930. First edition, first printing. Three fully scored songs are included to the rear.
Three striking full-page black-and-white delightfully detailed illustrations, several vignette drawings and the dust jacket art by the National Arts Award winning painter, children's book illustrator and renowned dust jacket artist, Winifred Earl Lefferts Arms.
Lefferts, also a famous philanthropist, had a long career, mostly known today as a dust jacket artist. She illustrated many classic literary jackets, but also mysteries, including three by Nero Wolfe's writer Rex Stout. One of these three originals went for an impressive auction at Bonhams in 2015. Seiler wrote two long-lasting successful children's plays. This is one of the two well-loved and critical acclaimed comedies. The play is promoted to be as delightful to read as it is to act out--or to see a live production. A fun, engaging and lively tale for children. A delightful illustrated, interactive children's book in a very scarce dust jacket. Octavo; 91 pages. FREE SHIPPING TO THE USA PLEASE VIEW FOR MORE GREAT BOOKS THANKS! |
