by Patricia MacLachlan

Illustrated by Kathy Jacobi

New York: Harper & Row, Publishers, (1982).

SIGNED, and warmly inscribed by the Newbery Award winning author to the title page.

MacLachlan was most well-known for the 1986 Newbery Medal-winning novel SARAH PLAIN AND TALL, which was later adapted into the well-acclaimed film starring Glenn Close and Christopher Walken.

In this delightfully enchanting tale, Murdoch, the Tomorrow Wizard's apprentice, helps people and dreams of becoming human. A smart horse advises the Wizard and and Murdoch in their travels, and offers insights to Murdoch during his quest to become human.

Warm, adventuresome, humorous, and satisfying.

Endearing and eye-catchingly creative pen-and-ink illustrations by Kathy Jacobi.

Minute foxing to outer page edges, else very tight, clean and near fine in smoke-grey linen over peach-colored boards with red-metallic wizard illustration to the front cover and metallic-red titles to the spine; in a very good price-clipped dust jacket with several small wear marks to the spine, very short tears to the upper edge with one tiny nick.

A lovely, collectible, young adult fantasy.
