Original bright blue cloth boards with gilt decoration on front cover with small gilt titles on green half-leather bound five-section spine; light wear to corners, wear to top of covers and portions of spine sides, tiny speckles on both covers; nice intact marbled endpapers, pages are mildly age-toned and tight, clean and intact except for occasional foxing. Top edge of pages are gilt. Has detached green cloth bookmark.

A collection of essays and poetry by Amoury-Louis Boué de Villiers (1834-1883?).

Inscribed and SIGNED by the author in 1864 on the half-title page. Attached in is a two-page letter on thin paper from the author.

Also has a bookplate to front pastedown endpaper from the library of French politician Count Charles de Mandre (1805-1875), a close friend of French emperor Napoleon III.
