Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy on-set photograph taken during the production of the 1940's Film-Noir drama thriller, TIME OUT OF MIND, released in 1947 by Universal-International Pictures and directed by Robert Siodmak. Based upon the novel by Rachel Field, the son of a wealthy Maine shipping magnate causes a crisis in the family when he announces that he wants a career in music rather than in the family business. The cast includes Phyllis Calvert, Robert Hutton, Ella Raines, Eddie Albert, Leo G. Carroll, Helena Carter, and John Abbott.
The image features an on-set shot taken during the film's production and depicts director Robert Siodmak looking through his viewfinder at what will be a close shot of co-stars Robert Hutton and Phyllis Calvert as English novelist and Oxford periodical publisher Cyril Conley, Donald B. Elder, and Maurice Woolf watch. Affixed to the bottom of the verso is the original paper snipe that describes the image. It is in very good condition only with a 1.25 in. horizontal tear on the right border; several small creases on the top right corner; light signs of waviness on the front from where the paper snipe is affixed to the back; and random signs of wear in the borders.
Universal announced that they wanted Ferde Grofé Sr. to write a symphony for the picture. It's unknown whether he wrote anything, but the concert piece actually featured is "New England Symphony" based on the music from Lydia (1941). |
