Vintage from the 1970's.  They were part of my antique/junque store inventory back in 2003 to 2005.  I sold the building back in 2005 and have had my inventory in my basement storage area ever since.
This item is made from heavy glazed ceramic pottery.  It is in the colors or cobalt blue and brown...the pedestal they are attached to is a tan in color.  These two pieces of pottery are solid and not hollow or carved out.  The weight on the two is 1lb 3oz.
It is a Japanese, Shishi Lions, Foo Dog, Dragon, or Guardian Lion.

The piece that has its mouth open measures 3 1/2 inches long x 3 3/4 inches tall x 1 1/2 inches wide.

The piece that has its mouth shut measures 3 1/2 inches long x 3 1/2 inches tall x 1 1/2 inches wide.

Both of them are in good condition ... with the exception of the one with its mouth closed has a chip out on the top of his ear...overall the item is still good considering its age.  The glaze is excellent with no crazing to it.  No other chips on either of the pieces have been found.

They are unique pieces because they are on a pedestal ... you dont find them very often that are on the pedestal piece.
