Vinca minor (Periwinkle) is a popular flowering groundcover for zones 4-9. It loves shade or partial sun and grows well in most soils and works well for erosion control. It grows to reach approximately 4-6" tall (and will spread up to 18" at maturity) with small, glossy green leaves periwinkle blue flowers mostly. It flowers predominately in the spring/early summer although I've seen the occasional flowers during colder weather months. You will receive 200 bare root plants which will contain approximately 2-6 branches per plant. This is an average; the total number will depend on the time of year and the particular bed that is being dug the week of your purchase. Since it grows a bit differently in every bed and some plants are more established than others, it will vary. You may see some plants with only two branches but if you do, rest assured that I have included extra to make up for the difference. Sometimes, you may get a clump that counts as one just because that's the way it was dug and wants to stay. I recommend spacing them 6" apart in a zigzag pattern but you can choose to adjust that depending on how fast you want it to fill in. I recommend giving the roots a good watering upon arrival and planting them immediately. Water well for the first few weeks.
