he lavishly mounted silent film costume drama/romance, MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE, released in 1924 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Sidney OlcottWhen M. Beaucaire (Rudolph Valentino), a handsome barber, catches the Duke of Winterset (Ian Maclaren) cheating at gambling, Beaucaire exacts Winterset's cooperation in sneaking Beaucaire into a great ball, disguised as the Duke de Chartres, and to introduce him to the beautiful Lady Mary (Doris Kenyon). The disguised barber successfully pulls off the masquerade and is soon the toast of society. But Winterset is embittered at having been blackmailed so, and he sets out to destroy Beaucaire if he can do so without revealing his own duplicity. The cast includes Bebe Daniels, Lois Wilson, Lowell Sherman, Paulette Duval, John Davidson, Oswald Yorke, and Flora Finch.

The image features an interior shot of the handsome Duke de Chartres (Rudolph Valentino) dancing with the beautiful Lady Mary (Doris Kenyon) as their contrasting costumes of black and white add to the design of the image. Printed with a sepia tint, it is in very fine condition with a small area of wear on the tip of the bottom left corner and a tiny area of discoloration in the center of the top border. The image quality is very sharp with fine detail and beautiful contrast.
